Save time, coach smarter: A deep dive into AI Motion Analysis V2
Download the TPS 10.1 software update here!
If you’re a golf coach using Trackman, you know the power of video in breaking down a player’s swing. But let’s be honest: Manually drawing lines and scrubbing through footage to find P-positions can be a pain, and it really eats into your session time.
That’s exactly why we built AI Motion Analysis — and with Version 2 now available in TPS 10.1, it’s faster, smarter, and more capable than ever.
Here’s a closer look at what’s new and how it helps you save time while leveling up your coaching.
What is AI Motion Analysis?
AI Motion Analysis automatically detects body joints and club positions throughout a swing video. That means instead of drawing overlays by hand, coaches can now generate highly accurate visuals with a single click.
It’s not just a time-saver — it also enhances what’s possible in your swing analysis by tracking positions and motions frame by frame, consistently and precisely.
Save time with instant overlays
The most common lines and circles can now be drawn automatically. What used to take 30 seconds or more now happens in under five.
The overlays also follow the player throughout the swing, meaning you’re not redrawing every time they move. Just click, analyze and coach.
Every P-Position, auto-detected
Version 2 introduces a big upgrade: the entire sequence from P1 to P9 is now auto-detected, with P2, P6 and P8 added to the playback bar for instant navigation.
This means you can jump right to the takeaway, downswing or follow-through with a click — no more scrubbing back and forth to find the exact frame.

New club-related overlays
We’ve added a whole suite of club-specific overlays to give you deeper insights into swing mechanics:
Lead Arm Line — Analyze arm plane at the top. Is it steep or shallow vs. shoulder plane?
Hand Trail Overlay — Replaces Wrist Path; great for analyzing lag angle and swing width.
Club Head Trail — See the club head path and how it shifts from backswing to downswing.
Club Shaft Overlay — Analyze static (P1) vs. dynamic shaft behavior. Spot issues like laid off, parallel or over-the-top at P4.
Club Shaft Trail — Understand grip force and shaft pitch during the downswing. Each line between P-positions gives clear, even intervals for comparison.
Plus Elbow Plane and the renamed Shaft Angle and Shoulder Angle.
These overlays aren’t just visuals — they’re conversation starters. Use them to guide players through the "why" behind your feedback.

Smarter shortcuts, smoother navigation
V2 also includes updated keyboard shortcuts and a refreshed shortcut panel, so you can quickly toggle overlays, jump between positions and control playback — all without taking your hands off the keyboard. It’s a small change that adds up to big-time efficiency gains over the course of a lesson.
Model swings now load instantly
Here's a detail that often gets overlooked: model swings no longer have to be re-analyzed for new overlays to appear, shaving off roughly two seconds per comparison.
This is especially useful when:
Demonstrating ideal movement patterns
Comparing a player’s swing to a pro
Keeping sessions smooth and focused
It’s a subtle but effective way to keep your rhythm and your athlete’s attention.

Using multiple cameras?
TPS 10.1 also introduces a streamlined camera calibration process — allowing you to calibrate all connected cameras at once, with automatic ball detection and step-by-step guidance. It’s faster, easier, and ensures your 3D overlays (for Club Path, Face Angle, etc.) line up perfectly with reality.
Note: If your GPU doesn’t meet requirements, AI Motion Analysis will run on CPU instead — processing will still work but will take ~15 seconds instead of ~2.
System requirements and pro tips
To run AI Motion Analysis V2, you’ll need:
TPS 10.1 or later
A current software subscription (TM4, TMiO Home Complete, or TMiO Commercial)
A compatible camera (IDS or iPhone recommended; USB swing cameras supported)
At least 120fps frame rate for best accuracy
For IDS and USB, use exposure below 1/500s; on iPhone, enable “Fast Shutter” in the Trackman Camera app.
